The Blind Date Project

Premise: To engage in one blind date a week for a year starting April 1, 2011 and ending March 31, 2012.

Who I Am: I am a 26 year old graduate student living in the Midwestern US. I'll graduate in August with an MA in Communications and am hoping to teach at the college level when I get finished. I work full time and like to hang out with my friends. I perform at the periodic Renaissance festivals, play at conventions, am a comic book nerd, and enjoy reading and writing and a good movie. I've got lots of friends who I'm sure have lots of other friends. And, like most people it seems, I have a hard time meeting people to date. So, why not go old school, eschew all the dating site garbage and have people set me up? Who knows? It might actually work.

Why: Because I want to. I think it'll be entertaining.

Rules:

Safety first

1. All dates will be arranged by someone that I know with someone that they know. Dates from online dating sites will not be taken.

2. All dates will happen in public areas and I will not go back to anyone's house nor allow them to come back to mine.

3. I will drive myself to all dates and meet my date at an agreed upon location.

4. Multiple dates are not allowed. This will be 52 dates with 52 guys. After all, it's not very blind if I've been out with the guy before, right?

5. Generally speaking, all dates will be dutch. (For those of you not in the know, that means we pay our own ways.)

6. No sex. Personally, I think it should go without saying, but in today's society apparently it needs to be said. I'm not doing this to get laid and one night stands seriously don't interest me.

Alright! Those are all the rules I can think of right now. The first date will be in a week. Here goes nothing.

  1. As if it really needed to be said again, but seriously. You rock.
